2010 board ballot

The 2010 nominees for AIGA‘s 15-seat board of directors were chosen by a nominating committee following solicitation of nominations from AIGA members, chapter leadership and design opinion leaders.  Members ratified the slate through online balloting between February 11 and March 15.

The following individuals will serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2010:

  • Gaby Brink, founder, executive creative director, Tomorrow Partners, Berkeley, CA
  • Phil Hamlett, design educator, Academy of Art University, San Francisco
  • Deanna Kuhlmann-Leavitt, founder, principal designer, Kuhlmann Leavitt, Inc., St. Louis
  • Santiago Piedrafita, chair, Department of Graphic Design and Industrial Design, North Carolina State University, Raleigh
  • Robin Tooms, principal, managing director, brand/web strategist, Savage, Inc., Houston

Nominating committee

The nominating committee is made up principally of AIGA members, not AIGA board members, in order to reflect members’ views. The 2010 nominating committee was comprised of:

  • Traci Moore Clay, Traci Moore Graphics, AIGA St. Louis (chair)
  • Agustin Garza, Garza Group Communications, AIGA Los Angeles
  • Sherra Bell, Creative Know-Who, LLC, AIGA Atlanta
  • Sam Shelton, KINETIK, AIGA DC
  • Josh Silverman, Schwadesign, AIGA Rhode Island

The committee received an extraordinarily strong pool of qualified candidates who were willing to serve, from which this group was selected. Although others who were nominated may be equally qualified, these candidates met the criteria and fit best with the immediate priorities facing the organization.
